Frequently Asked Questions
Will my sessions be covered?
Many employers with extended health plans offer some coverage for Registered Social Workers (RSW). Check with your insurer. If it is, I write receipts with my registration number for you to submit for reimbursement.
How long are the sessions?
You can choose between 1 hour or 1.5 hours in length. Often people find it useful to have more time in the session. We can discuss what works best for you when we first speak.
Is what I tell you completely confidential?
Rest assured that all conversations you have with me are confidential. However, there are three conditions in which all counsellors are legally bound to break confidentiality:
Do you have a sliding scale work?
Yes, on a case by case basis.
If I am paying for my young person's session, will you tell me what they are saying?
This is negotiated at the beginning of our work together. Ideally, the sessions would be private so that the child feels safe enough to discuss anything. However, if the parents do want to have access to the information, then the child will know this ahead of time. We can discuss this is more detail during your appointment if necessary.
What is your cancellation policy?
You have up to 48 hours before the session to cancel your appointment without penalty. The full fee will be charged if you provide less than 48 hours notice unless there is an emergency.
What if I am running late?
Text or leave a message to let me know when you expect to arrive. Please keep in mind that I might be in another session up until your appointment so I may not reply right away. I am willing to wait 30 minutes for you to arrive and you will have the remaining scheduled time. After that our session is canceled. Either way, you will be billed for the full session.
What if Matty has to cancel?
If I have to cancel or change your session with less than 24 hours notice, you will get your next session free.
