RSW, MSW Student/Intern
I am excited to be working with Tommy Spence as an intern in my practice.
Tommy comes to this work with a passion for supporting others and an interest in assisting individuals in finding creative ways to move past the problems they find themselves up against. Having worked in a variety of social service programs, supporting both adolescents and adults to renegotiate their relationships with a wide variety of challenges, he recognizes the unique wisdom and abilities individuals possess.
Largely influenced by a therapeutic modality called Narrative Therapy, Tommy holds the belief that each individual is an expert in their own life and has unique skills, abilities and knowledge to support examining their relationship to the problems, which are impacting them, and to find ways towards a preferred identity and life.
Additionally, he brings to his work a number of years practicing meditation and facilitating mindfulness groups in a variety of settings. For individuals who are interested, mindfulness is a powerful practice that can be utilized in our work together.
A Registered Social Worker (RSW) in the province of British Columbia, Tommy is currently completing a Masters Degree in Social Work (MSW) through the University of British Columbia. He has completed additional training in a variety of therapeutic modalities, including the completion of a certificate program through the Vancouver School of Narrative Therapy.
Tommy will be offering lower rates in his internship. If you are interested in this option please contact us for more details.
